I’m going to share with you 4 main ways to promote your videos on youtube that is guaranteed to get you more views, subscribers, and ultimately build a fanbase that streams your music and then some.
1. Optimize your videos for the search engine and algorithm
Optimizing the videos of your music channel can help them rank higher in search results and make the algorithm recommend them to more viewers.
Which will increase the number of views you get on your videos and your subscribers as well.
And you can optimize your videos by doing stuff like using your target keywords in the titles of your videos, adding keywords in your description, adding the right tags, creating great thumbnails, and so on.
For example, say you record a cover of Chris Brown’s Don’t Judge Me, use a title like “Chris Brown – Don’t Judge Me (cover by X)”, right a description with the keyword “Chris Brown’s Don’t Judge Me”, and add that in the tags as well.
And when people search for the song, your video will appear in the search results.
2. Share in Online communities
The internet is full of online communities where like-minded people hang out. You can find these communities on platforms like Facebook groups and Reddit forums for example.
And if you do a bit of research you’re definitely going to find groups where your ideal fans hang out and discuss ideas and topics that they are interested in.
You can join some of these groups and share your videos there and this will help drive some of that traffic to your music channel.
And if we stick to our Chris Brown’s Don’t Judge Me example, search for Chris Brown, look for a group that is active and join that, and then post your cover in there.
You need to read the rules of the group and make sure that you’re allowed to promote stuff in there otherwise you’ll be kicked out from the group.
3. Share on social media
Another way to promote your videos on your music channel is by sharing them on your social media platforms.
And you can do this through what is known as repurposing strategy in the content marketing world, which simply means creating clips and images from your main Youtube videos and sharing them on your Instagram reels or on Tik Tok.
So in essence your music channel will feed the growth of your social media platforms.
Repurposing your youtube videos is a smart way to promote them and build your fanbase as it will save you a lot of time and headache, as you won’t need to create completely new videos for your social media channels.
For example, if we stay on our Chris Brown cover example, once you’ve published the cover video on your music channel, you can cut out a bunch of 30-second clips from it and share on your Reels, Shorts or Tik Tok, and then ask your followers to go check out the full video on your music channel.
4. Youtube advertising
The last way to promote your videos is my favorite and that is to use Youtube advertising.
I love this method because you can target thousands, if not millions of your ideal fans, and place your videos in their home feeds or in front of videos they watch.
An back to our Chris Brown’s Don’t Judge Me example, you can literally place your cover video in front of the original song as an advertisement, or in the feed of fans of this song, and because it’s something that they are interested in, they are very likely to click on them and watch.
The best thing about Youtube Ads is that you don’t need a ton of money to start promoting your videos. You can start from as little as $1 a day, which is pretty affordable.
